ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

The Department of Food Science and nutrition was established in 1997 with the aim of providing higher education for rural students. Our objective is to impart Quality Education in the field of food and nutrition. The department has experienced faculty members. Our work focuses towards nurturing the students in solving the nutritional issues and setbacks faced by the community to forge a society with fitness and finesse.

• To prepare the interns to be competent enough and foster a commitment to ongoing development of their hands on practice skills.
• To apply scientific thinking and ethical reasoning in the analysis, synthesis and evaluation of knowledge within the discipline of Food Science, Nutritional Science and Dietetics.

 HSC (10,+2 Pattern) passed with chemistry and any other subjects or preference may given to vocational courses:
Home Science, Child Development, Nutrition and Dietetics.

RESEARCH SCIENTISTS

Nutrition researchers are trained to examine the complex interplay between foods eaten and health and disease in individuals or populations.

DIETITIANS

Dietitian include providing health advice and promoting healthy eating, advising about special diets, educating health professionals and the public about nutrition, establishing and addressing health needs, helping to facilitate dietary changes.

FOOD SCIENTISTS

The food researcher's job is to research and analyse the nutritional content, discover food sources, and develop ways and techniques to ensure processed food is healthy and safe.

A food safety officer is a specialist whose job is to inspect and analyse food samples taken from various locations.
